Client Need
The L Salon is located in the heart of New Paltz and brings a comfortable and unforgettable experience to their clients. Their staff is devoted to outstanding customer care, teamwork, and professional integrity. The L Salon is also committed to being a Green Circle Salon, which recycles and repurposes any waste from their salon. Lauren, the owner of The L Salon, came to us wanting to update their website to reflect their mission and vision.
Gilday Creative Plan
We started out by assessing the brand and decided that we needed to expand on The L Salon’s color palette. We introduced a light dusty blue, which balanced out their branding by making it gender neutral and not overly feminine, but still making sure that the colors have enough contrast to make it accessible to all viewers. In addition, we wanted to create a sophisticated and friendly website design to entice people to utilize their services.
The Results
We built a custom developed WordPress powered responsive website that not only was clean and modern, but also AA ADA compliant to meet new internet standards on accessibility. The first thing you see when coming to the website is an actual photo of the salon’s hair stylist stations to show what the customer can expect to experience when coming into The L Salon. We used the circle from their logo for icons, lines, and headshots to showcase their brand.
Serif fonts are often used to illustrate an established and trustworthy company. Sans serif fonts are used for a clean, minimal, friendly, and modern website. Using a combination of serif and sans serif fonts elevated the design to portray the trustworthiness that The L Salon wanted to showcase.
For the interior services pages we set up a sub navigation to establish an easy way for viewers to get the information they needed without getting frustrated. We also wanted to display the salon’s work on every page in a gallery so customers can view different services or haircuts. On the services page we customized the galleries to showcase the scope of services for what the customer is looking for. Also, the images chosen by the client show a range of talents the hairstylists have.
The client wanted to emphasize the Model Project which is in place to entice people to come get their hair done for free or at a little cost to allow the stylists to broaden their technique styles. We created a form for the prospecting client to fill out and review made possible by a software called Gravity Forms. This also allowed us to have a section for clients to upload their hair so The L Salon can find the best technique to teach. Gravity forms sends the content of the form to the client as well as saving it to the database for extra protection. This extra functionality allows The L Salon to use their skills and also positively impact the community by providing top quality services.
