Packaging Design for Union Grove Distillery

Working with Union Grove Distillery in Arkville, NY, the team of Gilday Creative helped new distillers Brian Mulder and Todd Pascarella develop their emerging brand into a successful product launch with innovative packaging design and integrative branding.

Their main distillery logo, which we created to evoke the feeling of an old historical marker one might see driving around the historic Catskills. We also worked with them to create bottle labels and product packaging for their evolving product line. We created their Vly Creek Vodka packaging which includes some flavor variations, a maple rum that’s made from maple syrup sourced from a local producer and their whiskey and bourbon lines.

Designing labels for alcohol bottles isn’t the same as designing other products. It requires regulatory knowledge on our part from selecting the correct wording to using the appropriate font size.  Another challenge for the label design was the bottles were curved and tapered out from the bottom to top.  We had to calculate the correct angle of the label so that appears straight on the bottle but is actually slightly uneven.

If you’re ever taking a drive up Route 28 into Arkville stop by for a tour of the distillery and give it a try! Tell them Gilday Creative sent you.
